A day at the park

Last night we had a pretty intense storm.  Their was hail the size of ping-pong balls, crazy lighting and thunder, and the tornado alarm was wailing for an hour or so.  We feel like real mid-westerners now that we've experienced one, but a friend of ours says that it was nothing.  I don't think I'd like to experience something if that was nothing.  Despite the dark and stormy weather of last night (pictures of the hail we saved forthcoming), it was sunny and beautiful today. Spring is finally here, and the three of us decided to go to the park and enjoy it.

You wouldn't know it from his face, but Owen really loves the swings.

The games we play

A few days ago, Owen woke up from his nap and all I felt like doing was taking a nap.  I got him out of bed, we came downstairs, and I laid on the couch.  This doesn't usually work very well, but this day I was wearing a headband and it made all the difference.  We spent a good twenty minutes taking off my headband, putting it on his head, removing it, then replacing it on my head.  Who knew a headband could be so fun?

Just a Picture

Owen's birthday was on the 9th last week, but I'll post about that later.  For now, just a picture.  (Okay, it's a really cute picture). (Also, he's had a haircut since then.)

Cinnamon Scones

I thought I'd post a recipe...to change things up a little.

Casey was really in the mood for Panera cinnamon scones, but we didn't want to have to drive to Panera or pay that much for our breakfast, so we made our own!  I used the Pioneer Woman's recipe, with the only exception being that I didn't have cinnamon chips (and I still can't find them anywhere!)  They were delicious.  We loved the flavor and especially the texture.  The only thing I will change in the future is to put on a little less cinnamon sugar topping.  It got kind of crunchy because it was so thick. (I may have put on more than the recipe called for though...so maybe be sure to measure).

Christmas 2011

We spent Christmas this year (well, last year technically) with Katalyn's family in Virginia.  We had a grand time.

We made gingerbread houses.  (Casey and I worked long and hard on ours.)

There were the traditional (new tradition for the Griffith family) Christmas Eve jammies.  (Made lovingly by my mom.)

The cousins had a great time playing together (I'm pretty sure there was a better picture of the three little ones together...I just never got it.) (Also I'm not sure how their are no pictures of Nephi and Grace...we should work on that...they were definitely there.)

Owen had a great time with the broom (his new favorite toy).

Casey and I went up to D.C. with my mom and Bethany.  I had never been, and that was really fun.  We went to the air and space museum and the national portrait gallery.  (Don't worry I got in trouble with a security guard for taking my shoes off and playing in the water right after that picture was taken.)  We also ate at my brother Michael's fancy restaurant.  So fun.

Thanks family for a fun Christmas.  We love you!

Christmas Tinsel

We were decorating for Christmas...please don't mind my laugh.

For some reason, we ended up with an excessive amount of tinsel on our tree...:)
